Manchester four-piece New Luna release their new single ‘Opinionated’ tomorrow, 24th October.
The band – who’ve previously popped up at festivals including the home-of-all-things-buzz, The Great Escape, and support slots with the likes of Sløtface and Trudy and the Romance – make a fuzzy, guitar-led racket strewn with hooks; it’s heaps of fun.
Guitarist Zack Bamber says of the release: “One of the best things about being a part of the band is the diversity of influences; we’ve got the expected alt-rock inspirations – Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Smashing Pumpkins etc, but are also big on acts like Bonobo and Submotion Orchestra. We find the creative clean slate of modern R&B really refreshing – Gambino, Kendrick, SZA, Frank Ocean, BROCKHAMPTON, Bryson Tiller – all are putting together styles from everywhere to make meaningful music.
“‘Opinionated’ was for us an opportunity to set ourselves loose musically and use multi-textured instrumental sections to fill the space left by the sparse vocals and lyrics. In the studio we could mess around with more backing vocals and guitar layers and create a fully orchestrated piece that should keep the feeling of being a jam. The lyrics make a simple but direct social point.”
They’ve a single launch show that takes place tomorrow, 24th October at the Soup Kitchen in Manchester followed by a UK tour. Catch them at:
