Merchandise’s new album ‘A Corpse Wired For Sound’ is coming in September

Check out new track ‘End Of The Week’ now.

Merchandise have announced firm details for their new album, and dropped another track from it.

Titled ‘A Corpse Wired For Sound’, it’s less a threat to Cliff Richard, and more what’s shaping up to be one of the dark horse records of the year. That’s if second cut ‘End Of The Week’ is anything to judge by. Dark, brooding and brilliant, it’s described as the start of a new chapter for the band.

Stripped back to their core three piece, the new record marks their first ever sessions in a recording studio – layed down in Rosà, Italy. Recorded half in the studio, half at home – be that Tampa, or frontman Carson Cox’s newly adopted bases of New York and Berlin, it’s a long distance collaboration with guitarist Dave Vassalotti.

“We were ‘reborn’ as a rock band for After The End,” says Vassalotti, “and then we straight-up died again. It couldn’t last. The result is this distended corpse responding to you from both sides of the Atlantic, forever singing in spite of everything.” Cox continues further “It’s about the truth of growing up. You can’t take your friends or lovers with you. It’s about finding peace with that loneliness.”
