Earlier in the month it was announced that MIA would be this year’s curator at Meltdown Festival, the series of shows taking place at London’s Southbank in June. Now, we’re getting an inkling of the strategy MIA is whacking out in order to get some names on board…
Taking to Twitter, MIA tweeted directly at Radiohead, commenting that “I know it’s a long shot but I live for long shots, please come play Meltdown.”
Here’s hoping ‘ol Thom Yorke is checking his mentions, because it’ll be a bloody spectacular evening if it all comes off.
MIA will curate Meltdown between June 9th to June 18th this year, describing that the festival will “be about putting on a musical week that shows different types of music which have inspired each other to exist. Genres that support other genres, redefining the concept of a melting pot. Respect the history, don’t live in it.”
“I plan to bring together music’s best forward thinkers who have contributed to all our lives. When music acts as inspiration, it’s boundary-less.”
Keep an eye on Twitter, you may see the next move from MIA shortly…
