Most musical acts seem to be playing BBC Music’s The Biggest Weekend, tbh

Auntie’s ‘Glasto replacement’ is gathering pace.

BBC Music’s ‘Glastonbury replacement’ for 2018, The Biggest Weekend, has added a bunch more acts.

Joining the bill for Swansea’s BBC Radio 1 leg are the likes of George Ezra, Stefflon Don, Mabel and Sigrid, as well as Sam Smith, Rita Ora, Camila Cabello, Liam Payne and Thirty Seconds To Mars. That adds to a line-up already including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Craig David, Jess Glynne, Years & Years, Wolf Alice, Niall Horan, J Hus and James Bay.

The BBC 6 Music leg in Belfast has announced plans for Father John Misty – who will perform with the Ulster Orchestra – current Dork cover stars Superorganism, Dream Wife, Nenah Cherry and a DJ set from David Holmes.

Belfast also gets Underworld, Franz Ferdinand, First Aid Kit, Ash, Goldie, Little Dragon, Young Fathers, Beck, Orbital, Manic Street Preachers, the Breeders, Courtney Barnett and Public Service Broadcasting across two nights.

There’s also a bunch going on in Coventry, where Liam Gallagher will top a bill including Paloma Faith, Tears For Fears, UB40 featuring Ali, Astro and Mickey, Billy Ocean, Snow Patrol and Jamie Cullum.

Scotland doesn’t miss out either. Pert will see Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds headline a day full of bands your mum and dad like. Go mum and dad.

Basically, everyone is playing, because they love radio play and – y’know – it can’t hurt, can it?
