London five-piece Naropa have released a fancy new 360° video for debut indie-banger ’If Only While I’m Sleeping’, in which you can move the clip around using a clever toggle in the upper-left corner (assuming your browser supports that kind of wizardry) – check it out below, first on Dork.
“The video is an attempt to demonstrate the surreal way that the imagination works and how we interpret it and how this contrasts and compares with the real world,” they explain. “How in our dreams, the world is chaotic and unrealistic, but how this isn’t too far away from the reality we live in, we just interpret and imagine it differently.
“We’ve put ourselves doing normal things in impossible places and put impossible things in normal, everyday places, reflecting the lyrical motif that in your imagination, more specifically in dreams, anything can happen and you can make the real world that way if you choose to. The fact that it’s 360 degrees allows us to make full use of and really emphasise the strangeness of the way we think and the way we view the world, making the ordinary seem extraordinary, and visa versa.
“The world doesn’t have to be as depressing and ugly as it sometimes seems. It can be totally bonkers and surprising and beautiful.”
Keep an eye out for the band’s next single, ‘Forever Blind’, which will land early this year.
