The National go “math-y” and “electronic-y” for new album

They’re working on the follow up to 2013’s ‘Trouble Will Find Me’.

The National have recently been debuting new material live – and now they’ve revealed that their next album will likely see them taking a slightly different tact to usual.

Currently working on the follow up to 2013’s ‘Trouble Will Find Me’, frontman Matt Berninger tells NME: “We’re playing together in a room, which means we’re jamming more. But it’s not a jam record at all – the songs are much more like weird, math-y, electronic-y stuff.”

“A lot of songs are going in completely different directions,” he adds. “But that’s a really fun place to be. We’re in the middle of the wilderness, in a rainforest full of really fun noises.”
