Ooze this? It’s Beck, with a slimy ‘Colors’ clip

There’s a colourful new video for the title track of Beck’s 13th album

Beck’s four-star new album ‘Colors’ dropped yesterday, and to go with it, there’s this ooey-gooey, gunky, funky and kind-of-oddly-satisfying video for the opening title track.

The bizarre, slimy video apes the immensely popular ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response, it says here) video trend, with hands plunging into and teasing apart a variety of differently-hued and multi-textured slime while the track’s ‘heady highs and effortless charm’ play out, the man himself conspicuous by his absence.

If you missed one of the tiny surprise shows which Beck and his band played this week – Omeara in London Bridge last Sunday, Camden’s Electric Ballroom on Thursday – (and you won’t be alone in that), then the bad news is it doesn’t look like he’ll be back this side of ‘the pond’ anytime soon.

For now, though, we’ve got ‘Colors’, and whether or not you get the kind of ‘positive feelings and a distinct static-like tingling sensation on the skin’ (thanks, Wikipedia) typical to the ASMR phenomenon (results may vary), you can check out the video in the player below.
