In a musical sandwich that questions just what on earth is going on in 2016, Interpol’s Paul Banks and Wu Tang’s RZA have teamed up under the moniker Bankz & Steelz – with a debut album due out in August.
‘Anything But Words’ is set to drop on August 26th, and features big time special appearances from Florence Welch, Ghostface Killah and Kool Keith, with 11 tracks including the previously released ‘Love And War’ and fresh new number ‘Giant’ (you can check that out below).
Speaking about the collaboration, RZA said to Rolling Stone “When I met Paul, I recognized the New York energy he has as a music artist. We got to know each other playing chess and vibing out in the studio”
“The outcome was something distinctively different from my previous work, yet with another layer of cool.”
Checkmate indeed. Banks & Steelz will be touring around the US this summer. Here’s hoping we can finally see that dream ‘Slow Hands/C.R.E.A.M’ mash-up.
