Pixies announce new album ‘Head Carrier’

Paz Lenchantin joins the band full time as they debut new track ‘Um Chagga Lagga’.

Pixies have announced details of a brand new album, set to drop later this year.

Titled ‘Head Carrier’, the second full-length since the band’s reunion will be released on September 30th. News of the twelve track LP comes alongside a lead single ‘Um Chagga Lagga’. You can check that out below.

Recorded at London’s Rak Studios with Tom Dalgety (Killing Joke, Royal Blood) in February and March of this year, the album also sees bass player Paz Lenchantin join the band full time, after standing in for the departed Kim Deal on live dates last time round.

“I was very nervous in the beginning when I went to that first rehearsal,” said Lenchantin. “There were these shoes I felt I had to fill and I tried to do the best I could for the fans, to make the live performances sound true to the originals. I spent three years learning to understand what being a Pixie meant, and now, my heart, spirit, and love for their music is embedded in me and I feel like I have become a Pixie. We had been more about the history of the Pixies, but now, we are about going forward.”

Pixies will be heading out on a global tour alongside the record, kicking off on November 15th in Vienna. You can find the dates here.
