There are low blows you can throw at a musician, then there’s comparing them to Piers Morgan.
That’s the fate that’s befallen PJ Harvey, who has wound up politicians in Washington D.C. with her new song ‘The Community of Hope’.
Taken from her forthcoming album ‘The Hope Six Demolition Project’, the track is inspired by Ward 7, an underdeveloped neighbourhood in D.C. – and Harvey isn’t especially nice about it, calling it a “drug town, just zombies”.
That’s made some D.C. big wigs unhappy. Former mayor Vice Gray, who’s running for a city council seat in the ward, would “not dignify this inane composition with a response”, while his campaign treasurer came out with the previously mentioned “PJ Harvey is to music what Piers Morgan is to cable news.”
‘The Hope Six Demolition Project’ is set to be released next month, on April 15th. You can find more responses to the track over on DCist.
