Earlier today, Queens of The Stone Age surprised everyone at Leeds Festival when they rocked up for a surprise set.
And then they surprised everyone at Reading Festival when they turned up a few hours later for more of the same.
Luckily we bumped into Troy Van Leeuwen and Jon Theodore to ask ’em, “Oi, what’s the big idea? Why celebrate the launch of new album ‘Villains’ with two sets in one day at these festivals?”
“Along with most of what we’ve been doing lately, it’s very audacious,” starts Troy before Jon simplifies things. “Why not?”
“Yeah, why not,” echoes Troy. “Sometimes you have to do things that aren’t the normal thing when it comes to promoting records. (“Thankfully,” adds Jon.) “We just want to make it interesting for ourselves and anyone else who’s out there and interested in our band. To do something like this in one day is outlandish and right up our alley.”
“we like to make memorable moments,” reasons Troy before asking, “Why be normal? If you have a chance to do something you’ll never forget, I’ll take that.”
The Mark Ronson produced ‘Villains‘ is out now.
And it looks like they might be back at the festival next year…
