The third day of this year’s Rock am Ring festival has been cancelled after more than 80 fans were injured after a storm.
The German event was suspended on Saturday afternoon as thunderstorms continued, but was finally cancelled when local authorities revoked its licence early on Sunday morning.
A statement from the festival revealed they regretted the decision, but recognised it was necessary with the safety of fans at risk. However, critics have accused organisers of not cancelling the event quickly enough.
At least eight people were seriously heard by lightning strikes early on Saturday morning. Last year, 33 people were taken to hospital from the same event following similar storms.
