We do love sun-soaked indie over here at Dork – it’s just something that really gets us off our feet and jumping around in a way that even a big jug of coffee would struggle to do.
Enter Sad Palace, the type of shimmering new band from the South Coast that have all the ingredients to become a national treasure. Whether it’s the plucking swoons, the ferocious breakdowns or potent-packed manner in which it’s all delivered in – it immediately calls to mind early Foals in full flight, and they’ve done alright for themselves right?
There’s a confidence in creativity that bursts throughout, as shown by their fresh new video for latest track ‘Breeze’ – with the clip exclusively debuting right here on Dork today. There’s glitter and a LOT of paint – exactly what you’d expect from a track that brims with the sort of instant-classic edge that’ll find a perfect home in festival fields all over the place next summer.
Speaking about the clip, the band said:
“We thought it would be cool to play with the viscosity of fluids and see how that worked with the music. You get some really satisfying moments making it, where maybe a bit of sludge naturally flicks off or flows in a way that just works with a little part or rhythm. It’s kind of mesmerising we think.”
We can confirm after multiple plays it certainly is.
‘Breeze’ itself is taken from the band’s debut double A-side release – packaged alongside initial cut ‘Rainbow Melt’ and available on a limited blue cassette right now through the fine folks at Kissability. Y’know, just the guys who got behind Circa Waves and Courtney Barnett right in their early days – so expect big things from Sad Palace.
Have a peak into their world with ‘Breeze’ below, it’s something special.
