Sad13’s new track ‘Devil In U’ is Really Very Good Indeed, in case you were wondering

‘Slugger’ looks set to be a winner for the Speedy Ortiz leader.

We’re less than a month away from Speedy Ortiz leader Sadie Dupuis’ debut solo album as Sad13. That means more ace new music.

‘Slugger’ is set for release on November 11th via Carpark Records. The latest cut from it, ‘Devil In U’, deals with emotional abuse with a smart slice of 90s alt-pop. “It’s about constraining your life to avoid conflict in the face of emotional abuse,” Dupuis explained in a press release. “You cut yourself off from your support systems and passions to prevent and assuage your partner’s irrational reactions; you force yourself to fit another person’s definition of ‘angelic’ so as not to provoke their ‘devilish’ side. But no devil is worth your care if they don’t love and support you for who you are.”
