Sainsbury’s to stock range of vinyl from later this month

Adele, Amy Winehouse, Nirvana, The Smiths and The Beatles will be among the records stocked at 171 stores.

Sainsbury’s are to start stocking vinyl from later this month in select stores.

171 outlets will take a range of records, including releases from Adele, Amy Winehouse, Nirvana, The Smiths and The Beatles. It’s the first time Sainsbury’s will have stocked vinyl since the 1980s, and follows a move from Tesco last Christmas to stock a small range of albums on the format.

“Vinyl is definitely experiencing a revival with demand growing stronger year on year,” explains Sainsbury’s Head of Music and Books, Pete Selby. “It is our aim to make the vinyl experience easy and pleasurable for our customers who are ready to re-engage with a format that resonates with them on an emotional level.”

No Toploader, though. Jamie Oliver will be gutted.
