Spector have revealed a brand spanking new track ‘Born In The EU’ to coincide with that pretty seismic vote we’ve got going on tomorrow.
A classic love letter to all things Europe, it originally started life back in 2013 with former guitarist Chris Burman, and polished off recently in light of upcoming events.
Taking to the band’s Facebook, frontman Fred Macpherson described the track and vote in lengthy detail saying:
“We never ‘finished’ this song and weren’t sure we were ever going to release it but then it dawned on me that by the end of this week we might no longer even be a part of Europe, and for one of the first times in my life, I felt the clock tick. “I’m not gonna tell you how to vote, just vote” is a popular internet adage, and though I can’t disagree with the sentiment, this one seems a little too big to keep our opinions to ourselves. Unlike a general election we won’t get another chance in five years. For me, the vote comes down to what sort of country we are. Are we outward looking and internationalist? Or inward looking, parochial and xenophobic”
Spector are gearing up for a run of sold out album shows, playing their first LP “Enjoy It While It Lasts” and last year’s ‘Moth Boys’ in full on alternative nights in Manchester and London at the end of July.
But for now – let’s bask in some pure Euro-indie goodness.
