Spotify CEO Daniel Elk has announced the service has hit the 30 million paid subscriber mark.
Revealing the news via Twitter, Elk referred to President Obama’s recent visit to cuba, revealing “We have 30 million Spotify subscribers, but none of them are in Cuba… yet.”
The figure puts Spotify ahead of rival Apple Music, which was reported to have over 11 million paying customers last month. However, as the fresh upstart on the block, the Beats 1 backed service is clearing catching up fast.
We have 30 million @Spotify subscribers, but none of them are in Cuba … yet. So cool to see Cuba opening up! https://t.co/nZa67f0l8U
