London’s By Starlight have just dropped their debut single ‘So Desperate’; and they’re following it up with a self-titled EP – check it out below, first on Dork.
Vocalist and songwriter Sarah Murray says of the grungy, 80s-influenced and 90s-tinged release:
“We came together from totally different backgrounds but clicked over our mutual love of the dark, raw classic English guitar bands of the 80s – we love Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division and The Cure. Working with Paul Corkett really helped us hone our sound for our first EP because he has that same passion and musical alphabet, having produced The Cure and Placebo in the past.
“The words and music are dark melodic translations of the disappointments and disillusion I’ve experienced whilst trying find like-minded souls and musicians who see the world like me and express themselves in the same raw way. I guess we’re all trying to find our identity in this world, and this EP feels like we’ve made a start on that.”
