Stormzy and Sampha are the favourites to win this year’s Mercury Prize

Both acts have come in at 4/1.

The first batch of odds has been revealed for this year’s Mercury Prize, courtesy of William Hill.

The nominees – which were announced earlier today – include Dork cover stars, Alt-J, Glass Animals and The Big Moon.

And in news that will surprise no one, Stormzy is currently the favourite to win, coming in at 4/1, along with Sampha at the same odds.

This year’s judging panel features Jamie Callum, Ella Eyre, Lianne La Havas, MistaJam, Jessie Ware and Marcus Mumford, amongst others.

The Awards Show will be held at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith on Thursday, 14th September.

Last year’s winner was Skepta, preceded by Benjamin Clementine (2015), Young Fathers (2014), James Blake (2013) and Alt-J (2012).
