Kanye West’s pop-up New York show was cancelled last night, after a massive crowd turned up.
The surprise show was intended to take place after Kanye’s appearance at Hot 97 Summer Jam, which was scheduled after his set at Governors Ball was pulled due to severe weather.
With various teasers posted on social media, including a confirmation that the show would take place at Webster Hall from 2 Chainz on Snapchat (welcome to 2016, guys – Ed), Kanye tweeted the event was “sold out”.
However, as attendees of an earlier event left the venue, the crowd outside started to block up the street. The venue’s bounders and NYPD tried to control the situation, but just before 2am Webster Hall confirmed the show wouldn’t go ahead.
As The Fader tweeted, Kanye then arrived with Travis Scott, waving to fans from a car. Standard Kanye – should get his own Popemobile.
