Twisting beats, luscious sax and an infectious call to join in all the fun – that’s the way to grab our attention, and ALASKALASKA have done just that with their glorious new track ‘Meateater’
Following on from their richly acclaimed 2017 EP (and the absolute heavyweight number that is ‘Patience’), it’s a wonderful look at where they go next – crystal vocals and shuffling beat magic make ‘Meateater’ that perfect next step. Talking about the track, bandleader and singer Lucinda John-Duarte explained how it came to be. “I was thinking about how frustrating it is to be categorised or stereotyped. We’re always in competition with each other or ourselves, trying to sell ourselves like meat and hiding parts of our being in the process.”
Thriving on the live stage, ALASKALASKA are set for a busy couple of months indeed – starting with a support slot for Porches at Village Underground in London on April 16th before a string of festival appearances at Live At Leeds, Sound City and The Great Escape. They’ll go from there right into a UK wide tour with Nilüfer Yanya, calling into Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds and London – before their own headline show in the capital at Corsica Studios on June 7th.
And breathe.
Get hooked on the minty-fresh groove of ‘Meateater’ below. Thank us later.
