SXSW founder Louis Meyers dies, aged 60

Meyers helped book the first ever festival back in 1987.

Louis Meyers, a founder of SXSW, has passed away aged 60.

A promoter and manager at the time, Meyers helped to book the first SXSW in 1987, and continued to do so until 1994 when he sold his shares citing health problems.

Since then, the festival has grown to be one of the most important dates on the global calendar, responsible for sending more buzz acts on their way to megastardom than perhaps any other.

Initial reports suggest a heart attack as the cause of death.
