Taylor Swift is set to be awarded the Taylor Swift Award for being Taylor Swift better than any other Taylor Swift.
No, not April 1st.
Swifty will take home the second ever ‘named’ BMI Pop Award in 64 years, when she’s presented with the ‘Taylor Swift Award’. The only other recipient was Michael Jackson. Though he won the ‘Michael Jackson Award’, you’d imagine. It’d be weird if he won a Taylor Swift Award in 1990.
“Taylor Swift has transformed pop culture through her songs, artistry and indomitable spirit,” said a BMI press release. “She has had a profound impact, not only musically, but also through her personal conviction and commitment to create a standard that values and respects music for everyone. We felt it appropriate to award Taylor with an honor that is as unique and special as she is.”
The awards take place on May 10th in Beverley Hills, California.
