The Cure’s Robert Smith is curating this year’s Meltdown Festival

The annual Southbank takeover will take place between June 15th-24th

Already packing a huge show at London’s Hyde Park, The Cure’s Robert Smith has been announced as this year’s Meltdown Festival curator.

Spanning across 10 nights at London’s Southbank Centre, the festival sees a new curator come in each year to programme a thrilling selection of shows – with Smith following in the footsteps of the likes of David Bowie, Nick Cave, MIA, David Byrne, Yoko Ono, Morrissey and Patti Smith in being handed the keys to Meltdown.

Speaking about this year’s event, Robert Smith said:

“I am honoured and excited to be curating the 25th Meltdown. More than 30 of my all-time favourite artists – some of the most exciting, inspirational, intense and influential performers of the last 40 years – will make sure this 10-night extravaganza is the must-see event of the summer!”

What a tease.

Full details on the lineup he’s pulled together, and ticket details, will be revealed in March. Till then, lets just all have a think about what might happen. Looks good doesn’t it?
