The cinematic closing track on Amber Bain’s latest EP ‘Swim Against The Tide’, it’s full of the mesmerising hooks that have made her a bonafide star – packed with emotion, rawness and chilling moments of clarity.
Talking about the track in this month’s magazine (where she’s on the blooming cover no less), Amber said:
“That song’s changed so much and also not at all, it’s about Matilda in the film (Leon) and she’s grown up – I was really interested in the idea of her being in love with him. It’s the only song I’ve ever written in third person, about her being grown up and with someone else, finding him really boring and just fantasising about being with Leon and the sadness of settling for something when you already had something.”
‘Swim Against The Tide’ dropped into the world on Friday (November 11th) and boy, is it a bloody good one. After finishing up a run of headline UK dates at London’s Heaven on November 7th, The Japanese House will round out the year with a string of European and US tour dates, before supporting a small band called The 1975 on their December UK arena tour.
