The Lemon Twigs get cosy with the grandparents in the video for ‘I Wanna Prove To You’

A vintage-swelled guide to making a music video, that may have just lost a director his grandparents

The Lemon Twigs have revealed a fresh new video for ‘I Wanna Prove To You’ – and it’s a glorious look as to how the brothers are burrowing their way into hearts all over the place (grandparents included).

The clip finds the video’s director taking The ‘Twigs to his grandparents house, for a fly-on-the-wall style piece which after starting quite frosty, finds the duo fitting right into the family with snow ball fights, cake-baking and even going to church together. Lets just say the director doesn’t take that too well…

Speaking about the clip to Stereogum, director Nick Roney explained:

“The song is about proving your love which is something I can’t really fathom because of how generally self-centered I am. But I figured my grandparents knew something about it because they had been married for 50-years, so their relationship seemed to make an appropriate backdrop for the video. Overall the experience was heartbreaking for me and I never would have imagined that things would have gone south as they did. Now that my wounds have sort of healed, I wish the Lemon Twigs and my grandparents the best and hold no ill-will against them. My aunt recently told me that the adoption process is underway, which I guess could make for a lively Thanksgiving.”

‘I Wanna Prove To You’ is another swelling instant classic from The Lemon Twigs’ debut album ‘Do Hollywood’ – released at the end of last year and brimmed with the sort of vintage hits that’ll have you hooked from the get-go. The band will be heading back around the UK in March for their biggest headline shows to date, including a stellar night at London’s KOKO on March 29th.
