The Libertines have had to cancel their Blackpool show

It’s down to “continuing health and safety concerns”.

The Libertines have announced the cancellation of their rescheduled Blackpool date.

The band were initially due to play the Empress Ballroom on 22nd September, but were forced to push the date back to 14th December as a result of essential maintenance works at the venue. Now the rescheduled date has also been cancelled, thanks to “continuing health and safety concerns” over the venue’s ceiling.

In a statement posted to their Twitter page, the Libertines noted their disappointment and pointed out that the cancellation of both dates was out of their control.

Shows at the venue from alt-J, The Kooks, and Placebo have also been cancelled over safety concerns.
