The Shins perform new track ‘The Fear’ on US radio

James Mercer may have just serenaded ‘A Prairie Home Companion’ into pure bliss, now we can be there too

We’re just getting our heads back in order after The Shins seized the New Year last week with new number ‘Name For You’ – and now we’ve got a peek at another slice of James Mercer’s 2017 with ‘The Fear’.

The fresh one was performed on Minnesota Public Radio’s A Prairie Home Companion programme, where The Shins also laid down versions of ‘Name For You’ and classic cuts ‘Gone For Good’ and ‘Saint Simon’ (both taken from 2003’s ‘Chutes Too Narrows’.

It shows James Mercer & Co well and truly back in the swing of things, for a year that’s primed to be a big one. With new album ‘Heartworms’ set for release on March 10th and a string of headline shows already confirmed around the globe (including a special night at London’s Eventim Apollo on March 29th) – we think The Shins have got plenty to be getting on with, and that’s a bloody wonderful thing.

You can check out The Shins on A Prairie Home Companion right here (you’ll find them in two different segments at 52:10 and 1:19:00 in respectively)
