The xx’s new album is probably called ‘I See You’, and coming very soon

You can read the probable tracklisting thanks to some industrious Reddit detective work.

Don’t close your eyes. Don’t even blink. The hype train for The xx’s new album is moving at pace now, with another batch of new developments.

The band have already dropped a number of enigmatic snippets of new material via Spotify. Untitled and unattributed, the 55 second long teasers were added to the band’s studio playlist over the last few days – a third appearing yesterday.

That gives industrious internet types something to get a hold of. One Reddit user used their noggin to head over to Shazam to see what was up, and found 12 new tracks all tagged under an album called ‘I See You’. That sounds like a new record, right?

“Before you assume it’s fake,” they write, “let me remind you that the titles from the new The Avalanches, Japandroids, Sampha (also signed to Young Turks), etc. records have all appeared there before.”

The track listing they found reads:

Brave for You
Dangerous
I Dare You
Lips
Naive
On Hold
Performance
Replica
Seasons Run
Say Something Loving
Test Me
A Violent Noise

A couple of the tracks have been Shazamed already, suggesting they’re ‘out there’ in some form already. That probably means the album isn’t too far away from release. The xx are set to appear on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show this Thursday, performing live and having a chat – expect more news, and new music, then.
