In a week of endless hype and loads of good news, have some more of both: Death Cab for Cutie are teasing a new album and it could be out in August.
How do we know this? Well Death Cab have uploaded a new video to their YouTube account titled ‘August 2018’, and it contains a snippet of new music, which even aside from Ben Gibbard’s unmistakable vocals sounds decidedly like Death Cab.
They’re playing a set at Robert Smith’s Meltdown Festival, so we know they’re getting to ready to kick back into gear. The new video has us feeling like an August release for a new album is on the cards.
A new album will be the band’s first since the departure of key member Chris Walla, and could be the to feature new members Dave Depper and Zac Rae. Their last album was 2015’s excellent Kintsugi. With loads of huge bands on the comeback trail, summer 2018 is shaping up to be the indie equivalent of Infinity War. Alt-rock bands, assemble.
