VANT: Playing Reading & Leeds is a “massive honour”

“I went several times as a punter,” says Mattie.

Before they head out on the road with You Me At Six this October, VANT are visiting Reading & Leeds.

“We can’t wait!” says Mattie Vant. “Reading was our favourite show of last summer and to be given the opportunity to return this year on a bigger stage with a better time slot is a massive honour for us.”

“I went several times as a punter when I was a teenager at the peak of my hedonistic phase and had some pretty mind-blowingly spiritual experiences,” he continues.

“Circa 2007 in the midst of the ‘nu-rave’ movement, darned in neon-clad and armed with glowsticks I witnessed CSS followed by LCD Soundsystem followed by Klaxons destroy the NME tent, that was definitely a highlight for me.

The band play Reading later today (Saturday 27th August) and then Leeds tomorrow (Sunday 28th August) on the Festival Republic Stage, alongside Beach Baby, Tuff Love, INHEAVEN, LANY, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Lapsley, Palace, Brian Fallon and more (phew).

There are a couple on that long list he’s especially looking forward to catching: “King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard I’ve been meaning to check out for a long time now. Also our friends INHEAVEN are playing earlier in the day so it’ll be nice to see those guys and girl, it’s been a long time!”

And as for their set? “It marks the end of a very busy festival schedule for us so I think it’ll be a pretty joyous celebration and an explosive end to the summer. We’re going to put every last drop of energy we have in to these shows.”

Coming up, he finishes, the band have “a mix of headline and support shows right through to our album release in early 2017, we just wanna stay as active as possible and play to as many people as we can.”
