Vaults have posted a lengthy letter to fans online, urging them to take part in Stop Funding Hate.
It’s a campaign that aims to “take on the divisive hate campaigns of the Sun, Daily Mail and Daily Express by persuading advertisers to pull their support.”
The band soundtrack this year’s John Lewis Christmas ad, with a cover of Randy Newman’s ‘One Day I’ll Fly Away’, from which they will be also be donating any proceeds to the Help Refugees charity.
“We have all been appalled by the portrayal of some of the world’s most desperate people in areas of the press,” they explain. “There has been little to no change in the level of false reporting and xenophobia since the UN Human Rights Chief called for curbs on ‘hate-speech’ in UK tabloids back in 2015.”
