Tony Visconti has revealed we could be getting that second album from Damon Albarn’s The Good, The Bad & The Queen later this year.
The supergroup, featuring Albarn, The Clash’s Paul Simonon, The Verve’s Simon Tong and legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen, released their debut back in 2007, and haven’t played live together since 2011.
Last year, however, Damon revealed that he’d been working on a comeback record, which was to be produced by David Bowie collaborator Visconti.
Now, Visconti has confirmed the album is “two thirds’ complete.
“In the middle of 2017, I started working with Damon Albarn,” he told The Irish Times. “I’m working on his The Good, the Bad and the Queen album with Paul Simonon [The Clash], Tony Allen [Fela Kuti] and Simon Tong [The Verve],”
“We’re about two thirds of the way through and taking a break, as Damon is off on a Gorillaz tour, but we will resume in April and it will be probably be out before next Christmas,” he revealed. “It’s a great album and I think people will be very impressed with it.”
