Who might be playing secret sets at Glastonbury 2017?

Shhhh. Don’t tell everyone.

Glastonbury has hundreds – probably thousands – of acts playing more stages than we can be bothered to count. But in amongst all those scheduled sets are a few TBA slots. It’s not that Michael and Emily couldn’t be bothered to book them. Instead, they’re probably set up for a few surprises. Everyone wants to play Glastonbury, right? In the past we’ve had Radiohead, The Libertines and Pulp all arrive without prior notice. Here’s some of the names you might see pop up unannounced over the weekend.

ARCADE FIRE

We basically know Arcade Fire are likely to show up. They don’t have another show scheduled until the 29th, but we know they’re in Europe. They were billed as a UK exclusive at Isle of Wight a few weeks back, but now that’s out of the way they could get away with an unannounced appearance. Well, we say unannounced…

THE KILLERS

They’ve got shows in Denmark on Thursday and Greece on Saturday, so it’d need to be a quick stop off – but they’ve got new material to play us. Let’s face it, if Brandon showed up on Worthy Farm, he’d truly be ‘The Man’ with a plan. He should probably bring a fan. It’s quite warm.

THE MACCABEES

This one isn’t really a rumour. Phone providers EE have already spilled the beans, listing the band as playing “one of their final farewell shows before they disband” at Glastonbury. They’ve got dates until Sunday, so expect them to show up on the final day to see things off in style.

MANIC STREET PREACHERS

They’re playing a show in Bristol tomorrow night (22nd June). They’ll be in the area. You never know.

OASIS

This isn’t happening, but if it was we know Liam is playing a solo set, and Noel is showing up to introduce the Oasis doc Supersonic. Technically it might be possible – the bookies think so. In reality, you’d probably be better looking out for flying pigs.

EVERYTHING EVERYTHING

Everything Everything are on the comeback trail, with their new album ‘A Fever Dream’ due this summer. They’ve got intimate shows this week that could be leading up to something…

CIRCA WAVES

Yes, Circa Waves are already playing. But eFestivals also reckons they’re showing up on Thursday at William’s Green. Which they are. Just like Everything Everything.

HARRY STYLES

Harry’s one of the most popular ‘surprise guest’ rumours this year, thanks to a new album that leans heavily on the kind of old man music Glastonbury dads love. Harry, if you’re reading this, please knock it off and play some bangers.

THOM YORKE

Because Radiohead are playing and Thom likes doing solo stuff, obvs. It also wouldn’t be the first time he popped up in a secret Glastonbury spot…

GORILLAZ

They’ve been playing shows over recent weeks, including their Demon Dayz festival in Margate. They’ve already headlined, but they’ve got the show nailed down. What odds them showing up somewhere for a surprise set? Fair to middling, we’d say.

ELBOW

It’s Glastonbury. Old men who drink real ale won’t be happy unless Elbow show up somewhere.

ROSS FROM FRIENDS LIVE

6pm. Friday. Wow! stage. No. It’s not. We know it’s not. But we could all pretend.
