Yak have dropped a scuzzed-up cover of The Dixie Nightingale’s ‘All I Need Is Some Sunshine In My Life’

The boys are on tour next month.

Yak have returned with a new track ahead of their upcoming UK tour.

The band – who released debut album ‘Alas Salvation’ is 2016 – recorded a cover of The Dixie Nightingale’s ’All I Need Is Some Sunshine In My Life’ with Tame Impala’s Jay Gum Watson in Kevin Parker’s studio in Perth.

“A loved one departed and on the way out sent me this song, so we ended up recording a delirious version in the blistering heat of Perth,” says Yak frontman Oli Burslem.

“I love the original Dixie Nightingales’ version, it reminds me of songs like Wendy Rene’s ‘After Laughter’, which I imagined was recorded in the same studio with maybe even the same people playing.”

It’ll be released digitally on limited edition 7” vinyl on 6th October, backed by the band’s take on Lee Hazelwood’s ‘Wait and See’.

Yak tour the UK from 4th October. Dork had a chat with them a couple of months ago about their new material and stuff – read that here.
