You may have noticed, dear reader, but Years & Years’ new album ‘Palo Santo’ is rich in bangers.
We’ve already had our socks popped off with their first track back, ‘Sanctify’, and now they’re doing it again with the shiny megahit ‘If You’re Over Me’. While the lyrical content may be a bit of a downer, that refrain is a grin inducing delight – the perfect summer sizzler.
The trio will celebrate the release of ‘Palo Santo’ with a date at London’s Roundhouse a few days later on 10th July.
The follow up to their Number 1 debut album ‘Communion’, ‘Palo Santo’ – which appears to be Spanish for ‘holy wood’ – is due on 6th July.
Speaking about the band’s new material, frontman Olly Alexander explains: “The thing I love most about pop music has always been fantasy and escapism so I thought, ‘Well I guess I should try and be the pop star I want to see in the world and make the most ambitious and freaky and sexy thing possible’.”
It’s working, Olly. It’s working.
