INHEAVEN ride the wave at Reading 2016

Making a splash.

Music moves in waves. A bit of this, a bit of that, a bit of the other again. Occasionally something smashes through and changes the order. Sometimes you’ll even get a scene breaking out. That’s when things really start to get exciting. INHEAVEN are proof it’s time to start buying in the party poppers again.

Part of a growing gang of new, exciting, mostly British bands starting to make their serious moves, it’s easy to see how they fit perfectly into this new order. Where Wolf Alice and, in their own way, The 1975 breached the gap, this new class can follow. And follow they will.

From the opening blasts of ‘All There Is’, it’s obvious INHEAVEN have the songs. With a dynamic that’s both well worn and still pleasingly fresh, they’ve got that spark that so many lack. ‘Baby’s Alright’ sounds like the golden bullet – bass led, snotty and proud, it already feels like the calling card all good bands need.

“It’s a fucking honour to play here today,” frontman James Taylor proclaims, before ripping into a ferocious ‘Meat Somebody’. He means it too. This is their turf, the place they belong more than any other. As the front rows go mad, they may still be taking their baby steps, but – with a good wind behind them – by next year all good children will go to INHEAVEN.

It sounded good in our heads. Really very sorry.
