Everyone wants to be different. Everyone wants to be unique and push new ground that nobody else has covered before. But to actually live that and thrive on it? Well that’s quite rare – and that’s what makes Maggie Rogers an artist that you simply can’t turn away from.

It’s also what makes her set at Latitude such a perfect fit; a coming together of a festival and an artist who seem cut from the same cloth. That tangible emotion radiates throughout her set in the BBC Music tent, bridging electronica and classic pop sensibilities into a melting pot that demands repeated servings. ‘Dog Years’ flicks and fashions a corner of its own that refuses to stay in one place, the panoramic ‘On + Off’ soars with a chorus that pulls everyone close in uplifting unity, ‘Alaska’ still delivers unending joy – and all whist Maggie bounds across the stage in moves that take the sounds around her and channels that straight through her body.

It’s a set that confirms that there is nobody quite like Maggie Rogers. That decision she made to make pop music could very well be the best we could have hoped for. Individuality reigns, and Maggie is the queen. A Latitude coronation looks pretty ace from where we’re standing.
